Y U No is a rage comic face: a crudely drawn figure in a Japanese manga style, both arms raised in exasperation, mouth wide open. It became one of the internet's most used formats around 2011. He's been yelling for over a decade, and nobody has yet done what he asked. The format never changes. The top line names the culprit; the bottom line starts with "Y U NO" and lists the crime, in proudly broken English. "Printer, Y U NO print when I'm late?" "Mom, Y U NO knock?" "Microwave, Y U NO heat the middle?" The spelling is part of the joke - the anger is so total there's no time for vowels. It works on people, companies and appliances alike, and the appliances never answer. **Why it caught on:** it's the shortest possible way to shout at something that keeps letting you down.
