Damn Auto-correct! / No, damn you for not proofreading!
A Correction Guy post.
A black-and-white drawing of a smiling man in a suit, raising his palm like a traffic officer, in the style of a 1950s advertisement. Know Your Meme traces it to a Flickr post in October 2011; it spread on Reddit from 2012. It's also called Grammar Guy. He is the internet's hall monitor. The top line quotes the mistake, or just says "Hold on". The bottom line delivers the correction, with the confidence of a man who has never been wrong in his life. "Hello?" / "Hell o!" "Sorry I interrupted the beginning of your sentence" / "with the middle of mine." "Stop saying you drink coffee" / "you drink coffee-flavoured milkshakes." Sometimes the whole post is just "*you're". The raised hand does most of the work. It says: stop talking, I have notes. Nobody asked for the notes. The notes are coming anyway. **Why it caught on:** correcting strangers online is a hobby, and this gave it a uniform.
