"WELL THEN, I WON'T BE SHOPPING HERE ANYMORE" / CAN I GET THAT IN WRITING?
A Retail Robin post.
A European robin perched on a twig, on a red-and-black background. It's the advice animal for people who work in shops - tills, stockrooms, name badges and all. Robins are known for being cheerful and territorial. Retail workers are known for being made to look cheerful while defending their territory from people who unfold every sweater. Captions are dispatches from the shop floor. "I won't be shopping here again!" / "Can I get that in writing?" "Do you work here?" / "No, I just love this polo shirt." "Item won't scan" / "customer: 'Must be free then!'" And the dream: "Spent all day in the back room" / "best. day. ever." It's partly venting, partly a support group. Many posts end the same way, with someone admitting they've been nicer to cashiers since reading it. The robin, small and puffed up, looks exactly like someone ten minutes from closing time. **Why it caught on:** a huge number of people have worked retail, and every one of them has met that customer.
