A raccoon with a wide-open smile, on a blue colour wheel. The advice-animal macro got popular on Reddit and Tumblr in spring 2010. He looks thrilled with himself. That's the point: this is a raccoon who has just told the worst joke in the room and is waiting for applause. The top line is the setup, the bottom line the pun. "I quit my job at the IRS" / "it was too taxing." "Past, present and future walked into a bar" / "it was tense." "Want to hear a joke about potassium?" / "K." The groan is the reward. A good pun gets a laugh, a lame one gets a sigh, and Lame Pun Coon lives for the sigh. He's the dad joke in animal form - with a mask, like any respectable bandit, so you can't track him down afterwards. **Why it caught on:** bad puns are the only jokes that get funnier the more people hate them.
