The puffin's posture says "hear me out", which is exactly how every unpopular opinion begins.
The top line is usually a beloved thing, the bottom line the heresy. "Everyone loves bacon" / "I think it's just okay." "Pineapple on pizza" / "is actually great." "The book" / "wasn't better than the film." The replies, of course, prove the opinion was every bit as unpopular as promised.
What's funny is the effort involved: a little bird marching out to confess it doesn't like a TV show the whole office watches. Low stakes, high courage. Some posts are bold, most are about food, and nearly all start an argument in the comments.
Why it caught on: everyone has one opinion they keep quiet about, and a cute bird makes it easier to say.
